ODSC Status & Trail Closures

ODSC Status & Trail Closures

Since it is out there about trail reduction and permits are now on sale, we wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know the trails status for ODSC.

The executive worked hard to ensure that no major trails were lost. All the major connections still remain in place. The decision was made to give up the 202 It is a short trail in Orillia between the rail line and dead ends at Mississauga St.

The 200 trail (trail marked in purple) has a significant road run and we are going to be cut off in the next couple of years by the housing development behind the Foodland. The B205C from line 9 in Oro-Medonte is still open and access to Coldwater remains by using that trail (just the long way around).

Also, unfortunately the Gravenhurst connection (Snow Crest Riders side) has been lost at Kashe Lake so the B trail starting from the B104 Junction on Concession 13 (that has been closed for several years while we navigated a difficult landowner issue) will not be reopening this season as we had hoped.

On the positive news front, we were able to get the connection trail to Casino Rama reopened (it will be on the map as a new local trail 206). They have informed us that they will have a parking area at the back of the parking lot behind the Casino for use for all snowmobilers and their trailers.

With urban sprawl, trails will continue to be an issue going forward, but rest assured our executive is exploring all options to keep our trails open in the future.
